Gilbert completed a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Notre Dame Australia in 2014 and was admitted to practice in 2015.

Prior to joining Uther Webster & Evans, Gilbert spent a number of years working for a large state sporting and community organisation in which he provided in-house legal services. It was here Gilbert headed up the grievance, disciplinary and member protection processes in which he facilitated a range of disputes. Gilbert also maintained responsibility for legal, governance and compliance areas.

Gilbert is an outcomes focused associate who prides himself on understanding his client’s business and legal needs in order to obtain the best results. He is a current member of the Law Society of NSW.

Practice Areas

  • Commercial Litigation and Disputes: Gilbert’s clients trust him with the care and conduct of their commercial litigation in the Local and District Courts of NSW as well as the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal. Gilbert is passionate about providing commercial advice with realistic litigation outcomes and is an advocate for alternate dispute resolution as a part of the court process.
  • Corporate and Personal Insolvency: Gilbert acts for creditors, individuals and companies in matters of bankruptcy, liquidation, administration and receivership. As a part of this area of his practice Gilbert maintains professional relationships with leading trustees and insolvency practitioners. Gilbert’s practice in this area has seen him instruct Counsel on varying technical and complex issues, a judgment of which can be viewed here.
  • Debt Recovery: Gilbert is regularly instructed by the firm’s collections agency, Capricorn Credit, where he undertakes court proceedings and the recovery of funds for Capricorn’s clients. Gilbert is an advocate for the necessity of quick and effective debt recovery and understands the importance of cash flow in small and large businesses.
  • Sports and Associations Law: Gilbert maintains his expertise in the sporting sector where he is available to advise organisations on varying regulatory requirements, insurance, disciplinary, grievance, membership and child protection issues. Gilbert is well versed in the drafting and review of organisational policies and constitutional advice/ drafting, compliance with the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 (NSW).
